Adults in good dental health should come for a check-up twice a year. There are good reasons for this. Firstly, prevention is better, less disruptive and less costly than cure. By identifying potential problems early, we can solve them better and minimize any discomfort you may feel.
Secondly, regular check-ups enable us to examine your mouth thoroughly to ensure that there are no signs of ill health in your teeth or elsewhere. During a routine examination, we have a look at your tongue, the inside of your cheeks and your gums. Oral cancers, although extremely rare, are potentially fatal. It’s part of our job to ensure that all’s well with the whole of your mouth.
If one of your teeth is showing signs of damage or decay, we’ll discuss the treatment options with you during your check-up.
We’re committed to investing in facilities and state-of-the-art equipment that enables us to provide a better service. Often this means that treatments are quicker and less invasive than would have been possible a few years ago.
We use digital imaging, for example, including intra-oral photography that allows you to see real images of the inside of your mouth during consultation.
If we find during your examination that you do need further treatment, we will discuss all the options with you fully and explain the costs involved.
Stained or unattractive teeth can have a vast impact on someone’s well being. We all know it’s virtually impossible to smile or laugh freely if you’re afraid to open your mouth!
At Island House, ‘cosmetic’ dental procedures are part of our everyday treatment. Any consultation about aesthetic dentistry includes a full discussion of the options available, the time and discomfort (if any) involved, and its cost and longevity.
